What We Believe

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17

At Kirkland...

we are people redeemed by Christ’s blood, who seek to worship God reverently in truth. We glorify God through our unconditional love, caring and service of one another. We are growing in knowledge of truth, joy and commitment, sharing our hope with others that God’s light is reflected in our lives.

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Kirkland Church of Christ based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in, and flows from, these core Biblical principles.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to earth in order to fulfill God's plan of salvation for all mankind. "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."- Matthew 3:17

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creation. However, they chose not to obey God and their sin separated them from God.  And, since that time, mankind has continued to disobey God .  "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"-  Romans 3:23

Jesus Died, was Buried and Resurrected to Fulfill God's Plan and Offer Us Hope.

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions.
God raised Him from the dead and now offers as a free gift eternal life to all who call on His name as the Son of God and are baptized for the remission of sins.
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."- Acts 2:38

The Greatest Commandments

Everything we believe, teach and live should be based on the two great commandments of Jesus: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" - Matthew 22:37-39

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. You can be a simple Christian without becoming a member of any denomination.
"And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." -  Acts 2:47

You Can Have a Home in Heaven

"This is the promise which He Himself
made to us: eternal life."
1 John 2:25
